Reality and Impressions

It was grey and overcast when I left the house this morning and the trees with their scant, dried up leaves made a drab and pitiful impression. Time for winter to come and sweep away those last leaves. It’s the naked branches’ turn to show off.

Then the sun burned through the haze and the trees impressed me once again with the brilliance of their autumn colors. I was too hasty wishing for winter to set in so soon.
